ACL Presentation: Anticipating Federal Regulatory and Funding Reforms to Higher Education

The Higher Education landscape is on the brink of significant transformation, with federal financial and regulatory reforms posing both challenges and opportunities for institutions. These changes, including the attempted elimination of DEI initiatives and potential reductions in federal student aid and grant funding, as well as accreditation reform are already picking up steam. Understanding what is happening and where it's likely to go will be critical to ensure resilience and long-term success in higher education.

Presenter Mary Kreta is a Senior Consultant in the Organizational Effectiveness practice, affiliated with Segal’s Portland, OR office. She has nearly 15 years of experience as a higher education executive. Mary’s areas of expertise include enrollment management, marketing and communication, student success, military and veteran support, and alumni relations. She has notable strengths in change management, leadership development, creating healthy cultures, process improvement, building cross-functional teams, assessing technological needs, strategy execution, return on investment analysis, and data-informed decision making. Mary also has extensive experience in transformational institutional change and revitalizing underperforming departments and divisions.
